Book Review: Foxheart by Claire Legrand

This is an incredible book that will appeal to the inner kid in you. If you’ve ever had a dog that was your best friend growing up, or if you’ve ever felt like the oddball on the playground who scared kids away, then this book is for you. It comes out in October, 2016, and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a nice, light, magical adventure to remind you of your childhood.

Foxheart is a wonderfully crafted fantasy novel following the story of Quicksilver and her trusty dog, Fox. They are young orphans with no one to love them but each other. After they are forced to flee the orphanage, they decide to become thieves, contend to live their lives by their own rules. As they meet unexpected friends and become entangled in centuries of magic and adventure, the connection between them grows stronger and their perception of the world around them.

It is a wonderful tale of love and acceptance, as well as finding your moral compass and dealing with a future set out before you that you’ve no control over.

Fair warning, this book will also break your heart, but in the sweetest way possible. If you were an imaginative child, or one that was lonely or bullied, or if you’re closest companion was a dog, then this book is for you.

For a light, easy read this fall, I would definitely recommend this book. It may not be for everyone, but if you were the type of kid I described, then I think you’ll fall in love with this beautiful story Claire Legrand has created.

I read this book as an Advanced Reader Copy which is the pre-publication edition of a book sent out by publishers for review and publicity. The reviews I leave here are my honest opinions of the books I’ve been reading and have really enjoyed. I’m not payed to say any of this, I just liked the books! If you liked the review, let me know! If you have any particular requests for genres, authors, or titles, I’d be happy to oblige. Keep your eyes open for more reviews like this coming soon, there are some great books coming out in the next few months!
