Holiday Gift Guide- Blogmas Day 1!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 1! I’ll be doing a post every day until December 25th, and they’ll all be holiday themed! (and the featured image will be better soon!)

Today’s post is a holiday gift giving guide for 2016. I always love finding the perfect unique gift for the people in my life. Some great general things to look for are things that they would never get for themselves. A fun piece of technology, a beautiful piece of jewelry, or a special day for them are always big hits.

As for specific things, this year I discovered the best little piece of technology. It’s the HP Sprocket Mobile Printer and it is absolutely brilliant. It’s a tiny portable printer that you can connect through Bluetooth to your phone to print pictures. The paper that comes with it can be used as either a plain photo or as a sticker. I would definitely suggest this for anyone you want to spend a little bit more on. It is sold out on the HP website, but is available from Amazon and Best Buy.

The best books I would recommend this season are:

Girl Mans Up by M-E Girard is an absolutely wonderful and heartfelt book for any LGBTQ teen in your life. Love That Dog by Sharon Creech is a beautiful story in the form of poems written by a young boy about his life and his dog. A must read for all kids third grade and up, but all adults as well. Robot Dreams by Sara Varon is definitely one of my favorite graphic novels of all times. It is appropriate for fifth grade and up, but any adult, graphic novel fan or not, will find themselves laughing and crying along with this book. Hold Still is an autobiography by the amazing photographer Sally Mann. It’s funny and thought-provoking, a great read for any adult fan of non-fiction. My last pick is the book Heartless by Marissa Meyer which is the story of the Queen of Hearts before she started chopping off heads.

Gifts for pets are one of my favorite things to give, they just get so excited. Why not try a little bit of DIY and make them some treats! There are a bunch of great recipes online for peanut butter dog treats, or molasses horse treats. If you’re interested in my recipes, let me know!

For a makeup lover, if you have the option, going into a Mac store and putting together a nice eye shadow quad for them. It’s a nice personalized gift and so special for the person getting it.

I’ve definitely been spending a lot of time on Etsy, and have found two amazing shops that are the perfect unique gifts. The first is the shop called Jumbojibbles that makes giant vegetable pillows, which are sure to make anyone laugh. The other is a shop called Anna Ancell Jewellery which makes gorgeous animal jewelry that are so simple and elegant. If you want to get someone jewelry, this shop is the place to go for something very unique and special.

Another option for the hardest of people to buy for is the gift of a spa trip. Whether to an actual spa for treatments or a day of relaxing, or a pedicure or manicure, the gift of a pamper session is always a wonderful idea. This can also be totally flexible for every price range. From a full spa day with a range of treatments, to a simple, home pamper session with friends, there is something for everyone.

There’s also always the option for broke students to simply make their own gifts. Whether nice photographs with a frame from Amazon, paintings, or pottery, you can definitely get away with homemade gifts for your family.

There you go, my 2016 holiday gift guide! Keep watch for the rest of Blogmas, I’ve got a lot of great stuff planned. I hope your holiday season is off to a great start!
