Book Review- Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I’ve been really excited to read Laini Taylor’s new book and it definitely did not disappoint!   Taylor has such an incredible imagination and creates these worlds that are so real that you just want to get lost in them. This is her latest fantasy novel with a romantic, action-packed, fun story and characters you can’t help but love.

Strange the Dreamer follows Lazlo, the outcast librarian with a passion for the lost city of Weep. He has devoted his life and his studies to learning the language, history, and customs of the city that was suddenly forgotten, as if by magic, when he was a child.

The story also follows Sarai, a young ‘godspawn’ hiding in a floating tower with her few remaining siblings. Each of them were born with talents passed on from their parents, and Sarai’s powers set her apart from the others.

Each of these characters are intelligent and lovable. Seeking adventure and freedom and wanting to see everything that the world has to offer. They are the perfect characters to represent the outcasts of society, the different even to the outcasts.

Laini Taylor has written a beautiful book that will keep you hooked until the final sentence. This fantasy novel is easy and quick to read, good for ages 13 and up. It comes out in March and is perfect for a light read on vacation, a gift for the bookworm in your life, or a welcome change from the dense books I’m constantly stuck reading at school. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves fun adventures, fantasy and magic, and books about fairytales and librarians! DSC07673

I read this book as an Advanced Reader Copy which is the pre-publication edition of a book sent out by publishers for review and publicity. The reviews I leave here are my honest opinions of the books I’ve been reading and have really enjoyed. I’m not payed to say any of this, I just liked the books! If you liked the review, let me know! If you have any particular requests for genres, authors, or titles, I’d be happy to oblige. Keep your eyes open for more reviews like this coming soon, there are some great books coming out in the next few months!
