Summer Book Bundles #2

Today’s book bundle is for people who want to laugh out loud, but have a different sense of humor than most people. These two books are for the weird ones: the fantasy lovers and adventure seekers, the people who find the philosophical in the everyday.

The books in this bundle are All The Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders and Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. DSC00807

All The Birds in the Sky is a whimsically fantastic novel following Patricia Delfine and Laurence Armstead from childhood troubles to adulthood in San Fransisco when the world is falling apart around them. Filled with magic and adventure, world saving and world ending. Through their adventures, Patricia and Laurence come to understand love, life, and magic. DSC00814

Jitterbug Perfume is, to be honest, hard to describe. Starting in ancient Eurasia and ending in Paris, New Orleans, and Seattle, Jitterbug Perfume explores the meaning of life, death, love, and perfume. You meet Alobar: a king fleeing old-age and death, Pan: a pungent, sex-driven, forgotten god, Priscilla: a struggling waitress by day and an amateur perfumer by night, and so many more incredible, hilarious, brilliant characters. This book is not for the fainthearted and does have a lot of sex, but hey, that’s the secret to long life and happiness right? DSC00821

These two books together will have you laughing and pondering the mundane in perfect doses. These are definitely books for more mature audiences, I would say older teens and up. It’s easy to read these books in short blasts- perfect for a busy holiday or reading at work. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but are the perfect cult classics to read back-to-back. DSC00809

I hope you’ll give this bundle a shot! I’ve got more coming, so keep an eye out for those!
